The Russian Football Union (RFU) has commented on FIFA's decision regarding a goal scored during a friendly match between the national teams of Russia and Germany in 2005. According to journalist Ivan Karpov, FIFA has acknowledged that the scorer of the goal in the episode should be recorded as Aleksandr Kerzhakov, not Andrey Arshavin.
According to RFU representative Kirill Tereshin, the organizer of the friendly match was the German Football Association, and the statistics currently in use are reflected in the match report. Therefore, any changes should be applied directly to the match report.
Tereshin also emphasized that the RFU is ready to cooperate if an official request is received regarding this matter. Currently, Kerzhakov has scored 30 goals for the Russian national team, while Artyom Dzyuba has 31 goals.
