Carragher Says Isak Was Just Unlucky

Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher shared his thoughts on the incident where striker Alexander Isak sustained an injury during the match against Tottenham. Carragher emphasized that the injury was a significant setback for Liverpool, as the team is already dealing with issues in its attacking lineup.
According to him, any defender would have acted the same way in such a situation because the priority is to block any shot aimed at the goal by any means necessary. “I put myself in van de Ven’s place, and perhaps I would have done the same.
Isak was simply unlucky. Maybe this was one of the first moments where we truly saw his qualities in a Liverpool shirt,” Carragher remarked, as quoted by Sky Sports.
Isak sustained the injury during Matchweek 17 of the Premier League, in which Liverpool secured a 2–1 victory. The Swedish forward, who entered the pitch after halftime, scored a goal in the 56th minute. However, during the strike, his ankle became trapped between the legs of the opposing defender, Mikki van de Ven, following a sliding tackle.
As a result, the striker was unable to continue the match. Read “Zamin” on Telegram!
