Enzo Maresca, the Italian specialist managing London’s Chelsea football club, has realistically assessed the team’s chances of competing for the English championship title this season. According to the coach, the "Blues" currently lack consistency in their gameplay.
Maresca openly admitted that while the team has demonstrated high-level performance in certain matches, the results vary significantly against different opponents. This inconsistency poses a serious obstacle to setting high goals in a long championship campaign.
— If we were able to consistently show stable performances, we could be among the strongest teams. However, our results are fluctuating from game to game. Eliminating this shortcoming will become one of our main tasks in the second half of the season, — Enzo Maresca said in an interview with BBC Sport.
The coach also emphasized that the team is still in a development phase, with many young players in the squad who need time and patience. In his view, the second half of the season will be a true test for Chelsea.
Currently, the London-based team is in fourth place in the English Premier League standings. While this position is not sufficient to directly contend for the championship, it keeps them in serious contention for a Champions League spot.
In summary, Maresca is not building castles in the air: first comes consistency, then bigger dreams. Fans, in turn, hope to see Chelsea’s true potential in the second half of the season.
