In the headline match that wrapped up Round 17 of the Italian league, Roma defeated Genoa 3–1 at home and climbed back up the standings.

At Rome’s Olimpico Stadium, the hosts took control from the opening minutes. In the 14th minute, Soule opened the scoring with a precise finish. Five minutes later, Kone doubled the lead. In the 31st minute, Ferguson showcased his excellent form: he scored and was also heavily involved in the earlier attacking moves.

In the second half, Roma kept the game under control. The visitors only managed a reply late on — in the 87th minute through Ekhator — but it did not affect the outcome.
