AFC U-23 Asian Cup: semifinal pairings confirmed

The AFC U-23 Asian Cup in Saudi Arabia has reached a heated stage as the quarterfinals have come to an end. Now the intrigue ahead of the tournament’s most exciting phase—the semifinals—has only grown: who will reach the final, and who will keep a last chance to fight for medals?
One of the standout quarterfinal results involved South Korea. Korea’s U-23 team beat Australia 2–1 to book a place in the semifinals. With this win, the Koreans once again showcased their trademark discipline and composure in decisive moments.
As a result, the semifinal matchups have been officially confirmed. The following teams will battle for a spot in the final:
- Vietnam U-23 — China U-23
- Japan U-23 — South Korea U-23
According to the schedule, the third-place match will be played on January 23. The tournament’s biggest game—the final—is set for January 24.
As a reminder, Uzbekistan’s U-23 team also played in the quarterfinals but failed to score against China in both regular and extra time. In the penalty shootout, luck favored the opponents, and our team exited the tournament.
