In a match featuring Uzbeks, Sepahan beat Persepolis

One of the most anticipated clashes of Iran’s 16th league round took place. Sepahan hosted Tehran giants Persepolis and won 2–1, securing three crucial points.
The match was also of special interest to Uzbek fans. Our compatriot Oston Urunov started the game. He was active throughout, tried to add spark to his team’s attacks in key moments, and was substituted in the 66th minute. In other words, Urunov once again proved to be among the coach’s trusted starters, and it was clear the staff placed significant responsibility on him.
Another highlight was Igor Sergeev’s debut. Sergeev came on at the start of the second half and thus played his first official match in the Iranian league. A first game always brings extra pressure and excitement, but his appearance suggests his role and opportunities at the new club are beginning to open up.
For the record, Tehran’s side currently have 28 points. This means the title race is intense: every match and every point could be decisive in the upcoming rounds.
Overall, Sepahan showed character at home, while Persepolis, despite the defeat, will continue fighting for their position in the standings. For us, the key takeaways are Urunov’s place in the starting XI and Sergeev’s debut—signs that more news and good updates may be ahead.
