The Italian Cup quarter-final turned into a real game of nerves: Napoli hosted Como at home, but the final of the evening ended very bitterly for the hosts. The regular time ended with a score of 1:1, and in the penalty shootout, Sesk Fabreges' team acted coldly, and luck was on their side - 6:7.
The intrigue heated up in the first half of the match. As Como's attacks intensified, they took a penalty, and in the 39th minute, Baturina scored from a point, putting the visitors ahead. Napoli, meanwhile, returned to the pitch in a different mood after halftime: in the 46th minute, Vergara equalized, "blasting" the stands. After this moment, both the pace of the game and the intensity of the clashes increased - both teams gave their all to reach the semi-finals.
However, the number of goals did not increase. Napoli tried to add fresh air to their attack by making substitutions: Politano, Spinazzola, and later Lukaku were brought onto the pitch. "Komo" also tightened the defense, looking for opportunities in counterattacks - and most importantly, the team didn't lose discipline. Main time is 1:1 - so everything will be decided on penalties.
The penalty shootout was a separate movie: shots followed one after another, and the pressure doubled with each shot. And it was here that Komo showed their mental stability - they won 7-6 and sensationally advanced to the semi-finals. For Napoli, the cup competition ended here - at home, in front of their fans.
In short, "Komo" today practically proved the saying "even adults can get their teeth on." Fabreges' team now faces even more difficult trials in the semi-finals, but with such character, no one can call them an easy opponent.
