Senegal challenged "Morocco's" championship decision

Senegal has taken its Africa Cup of Nations final dispute with Morocco to the Court of Arbitration for Sport in Lausanne after CAF’s appeals committee overturned the original result and awarded the 2025 title to Morocco. The ruling came about two months after Senegal had beaten Morocco in extra time in the final. Reports Goal.com.

The controversy centers on a key moment in the match when Senegal players left the pitch for around 20 minutes after a penalty was awarded to Morocco. That spot kick was later missed by Brahim Diaz, but CAF’s appeals body still decided that Senegal should be punished, reversing an earlier disciplinary decision that had rejected Morocco’s complaint.

Senegal’s Football Federation called the outcome unfair and said it would use every legal option to defend the country’s rights. Officials in Dakar argue that the principles of fair play were not respected and insist the case should not be considered closed.

For now, the trophy and medals remain in Senegal while CAS reviews the appeal. The case has quickly become one of the biggest controversies in recent African football, with the final outcome now depending on a ruling from Lausanne.
