Former footballer and expert Jamie Redknapp commented on Arsenal's 0-2 defeat to Manchester City in the English League Cup final.
The fate of the match was decided by City defender Nico O'Reilly - he scored twice in the 60th and 64th minutes, bringing victory to his team.
According to Redknapp, one of Arsenal's main mistakes in the final was the goalkeeper selection. "People say Kepa should be in the final because he played in previous rounds. But he is not at the same level as David Raya. That's why he's the number two goalkeeper. The question arises: why don't you choose the number one goalkeeper in such an important final? This is a serious mistake. The coach must take responsibility for this decision," he said.
He also emphasized the difference between Kepa Arrizabalaga and David Raya: "Kepa is a good goalkeeper, but Raya is better than him. Yes, someone might say that James Trafford is not City's starting goalkeeper, but he made three decisive saves and then didn't face much pressure in the game."
For information, Kepa Arrisabalaga has not yet played in any Premier League matches this season, primarily appearing in cup competitions. This leads to even more disputes over the final selection.
