Football clubs in Uzbekistan will be transferred to trust management

The system of development and financing of the sports sector in Uzbekistan has reached a new level. Presidential Decree No. PP-107 of March 24, 2026, defined measures for the introduction of modern financial mechanisms for the sports sector and the wide involvement of business entities. These changes are aimed at increasing investment in the field of sports, strengthening social partnership, and overall effectiveness.
According to the decree, a Fund for Supporting Initiatives in the Field of Sports will be established under the Ministry of Sports. New projects will be financed and supported through this fund. Also, from April 1, 2026, entrepreneurs who have contributed sponsorship funds in the amount of at least 20 percent of the annual expenses of sports federations and associations will be involved in their executive bodies.
A new practice will also be introduced in the activities of professional football clubs: an entrepreneur or a group of entrepreneurs who have provided sponsorship funds in the amount of at least 20% of annual expenses will have the right to take the club into trust management. This, in turn, ensures the financial stability of clubs and increases management efficiency.
In addition, from April 1, 2026, to April 1, 2029, football players participating in the Super League and Pro League will be exempt from personal income tax and social tax rates. These changes will serve to widely attract the private sector, increase investment, and strengthen the competitiveness of football clubs.
The new system of financing and sponsorship is an important step in supporting and developing the sports sector in accordance with world standards, opening up great opportunities for fans and investors.
