The Candidates Tournament taking place in Cyprus continues to be highly intense. In the 11th round, Uzbek grandmaster Javokhir Sindarov played with the black pieces against the strong American chess player Fabiano Caruana.
Notably, in their first-round game between these chess players, Sindarov had won, and this time as well he tried to maintain his advantage in the game against a strong opponent.
At the moment, Sindarov has collected 8.5 points and is the sole leader of the tournament standings. His closest pursuer, Dutch grandmaster Anish Giri, has 6.5 points and is in second place.
For information, the 12th round games will take place on April 12. In them, Sindarov is expected to play against the famous American chess player Hikaru Nakamura. Three rounds remain until the end of the Candidates Tournament, and every game carries decisive importance.
The winner of the Candidates Tournament will receive a prize of 70,000 euros, as well as the opportunity to compete in the match for the world chess crown.
