Carrick strongly criticized the refereeing decisions in the match against Leeds
In brief

Manchester United manager Michael Carrick harshly criticized the officiating following a 1-2 home defeat to Leeds in the 32nd round of the Premier League. Carrick argued that a foul on Lenny Yoro led to the opening goal and expressed shock over Lisandro Martinez's red card, which he claimed was an accidental collision. He described the match as one of the unluckiest officiating performances he has witnessed, noting that key decisions consistently went against his team.

Manchester United head coach Michael Carrick strongly criticized the refereeing after the match against Leeds. In the 32nd round of the Premier League, the Mancunians lost 1:2 to Leeds at their home ground.

In Carrick’s opinion, the team conceded the first goal after an incident involving a foul. He stated that this episode had a serious impact on the outcome of the match.

“We did not start the game well. We conceded a goal after Leny Yoro was hit with an elbow to the back of the head. That goal was not disallowed, and it became a key turning point in the match.

We lacked rhythm in the first half. We had chances, but we were often out of the game,” Carrick said.

The specialist also strongly disagreed with the sending-off of Lisandro Martínez in the second half.

“The lads kept a positive spirit and kept fighting in the second half. But Lisandro’s red card was a shock for us.

For the second game in a row, decisions are going against us. This is one of the worst refereeing performances I have seen.

Lisandro was slightly touched, he lost his balance and accidentally made light contact with the opponent’s hair. This was neither aggression nor an intentional foul. Despite that, a red card was shown.

The most shocking thing was that the referee was asked to review the incident. This is a real shock,” Carrick said.
