Uzbek grandmaster Javokhir Sindarov has won the Candidates Tournament ahead of schedule and secured the right to fight for the World Championship title.

After the tournament held in Cyprus, he commented on the upcoming decisive match, noting that the game will not be easy.

“I don’t want to think about this too much. I know that at the end of the year a very difficult game awaits me,” Sindarov said.

For information, he will play against the World Champion — India’s Dommaraju Gukesh. The grandmaster, while acknowledging his opponent’s experience, also expressed confidence in his own abilities.

“He has a lot of experience in games of this level. But I also have a strong team, and there are all opportunities for preparation. Therefore, I will try to work harder and make the most of my chances,” he said.

Sindarov separately noted that the Candidates Tournament itself was very difficult.

“It was a very long and hard tournament. Every round was extremely difficult. In the last days I even could not sleep well. But now I am very happy. I thank my family, my coaches, and everyone who supported me,” said the chess player.

The grandmaster said that the final round game would take place without psychological pressure. At the same time, he added that he also wants to focus not only on his own game, but also on the women’s Candidates Tournament:

“Tomorrow’s game will take place without pressure. At the same time, I will try to support Bibisora as well. Her chances are also good,” Sindarov said.
