Bernardo Silva is keen to continue his career at "Barcelona", according to reports in the British media. The Portuguese midfielder is said to be open to a move away from "Manchester City" as his current contract is set to expire at the end of this season.
His agent, Jorge Mendes, reportedly opened talks with the Catalan club over a possible transfer. However, "Barcelona" did not move forward with the idea, even under a potential free-transfer scenario. The main concern is not the player’s quality, but the club’s uncertainty over whether a new signing could be successfully registered under La Liga regulations.
Silva’s representatives also offered the player to "Real Madrid", but the Spanish giants were not interested either. As a result, despite the midfielder’s desire to play in Spain, neither of the country’s two biggest clubs has chosen to pursue a deal at this stage.
The situation leaves Silva facing an uncertain summer. While his experience, versatility and technical quality remain highly valued, financial and administrative issues appear to be blocking what could have been one of the more notable transfers involving a top European midfielder.
