Chelsea head coach Liam Rosenior did not hide his strong dissatisfaction with the team's performance and the players' attitude on the field after the heavy 0-3 defeat against Brighton. His words indicate that the situation within the club is serious.
Rosenior stated that the mere mention of a team stopping its fight on the field is unacceptable. He said all questions regarding this should be directed straight to the players:
"Ask the players. Regardless of which club you play for, to be told you've stopped fighting is absolutely unacceptable. That's all I can say," Rosenior said.
The specialist stated that he feels very heavy and in shock, emphasizing that today's game was completely contrary not only to his tactical views but also to the club's core values. He openly stated that such a situation should not be repeated:
"I feel heavy. I'm in shock because today's game did not align with my principles or the club's values. This needs to change," Rosenior said.
Rosenior also added that he would not go into all the details for now, but he has clear conclusions. In his opinion, the result is not solely the coach's responsibility; collective responsibility is also of great importance:
"I don't want to go into details right now. I have my thoughts. The result is not solely down to the coach," Rosenior said.
He specifically emphasized that Chelsea should always be known for fight, will, and character. However, according to him, none of these qualities were visible in the match against Brighton:
"Our team should always be a symbol of fight, will, and determination. But today, there was no trace of it on the field." Rosenior told Sky Sports.
The current situation is even more worrying – Chelsea has not scored a goal in five consecutive matches. This puts serious pressure on the team's fight for a Champions League spot and further increases the importance of upcoming games.
