Chicago Fire drops pursuit of Robert Lewandowski

"Chicago Fire" cools interest in acquiring Lewandowski

The US-based club Chicago Fire has reconsidered its plans to acquire Robert Lewandowski, the striker for the Poland national team and Barcelona. Previously, the American side had expressed serious interest in adding the experienced forward to its roster. However, according to the latest reports, the club management no longer intends to pursue this transfer. Goal.com reports on the matter.

Lewandowski's current contract with the Spanish club is set to expire in June of this year. The player has long been linked with MLS teams. Nevertheless, representatives of Chicago Fire have decided to cease negotiations regarding the transfer of the Polish star.

The club's decision is reportedly attributed to the excellent form of their current striker, Hugo Cuypers. Management prefers to maintain the existing squad rather than searching for a new attacker. Consequently, Lewandowski may have to look for a new team during the summer transfer window.
