Barcelona files official complaint with UEFA over referees

Barcelona has submitted an official complaint to UEFA regarding the officiating following their defeat to Atletico Madrid in the Champions League quarter-finals. The Catalans are demanding an investigation into a controversial incident that occurred in the opponent's penalty area in the 54th minute of the match. Goal.com reports on this.
According to the club's statement, although an opposing player handled the ball, the referee did not award a penalty, and the VAR system failed to intervene in the situation. Barcelona's management considers this decision a serious error and has requested the release of the communication recordings between the officials.

At the same time, the club claims that double standards have been applied against the team by referees in the Champions League in recent years. However, experts assess these accusations by the Catalans as groundless and an attempt to justify their defeat.
Head coach Hansi Flick also expressed dissatisfaction with the actions of referee Shimon Marchinyak after the game. The German specialist emphasized that all controversial situations were decided in favor of the opponent, which directly influenced the result.

As a reminder, Atletico Madrid won the first leg with a score of 2:0. Now, Lamin Yamal and his teammates must demonstrate their true strength in the return leg and fight to advance to the next stage.
