Bayern Munich midfielder Joao Palhinha could continue his career in Portugal. According to Pedro Sousa, head of the radio station "Correio da Manha", two Lisbon giants — Sporting and Benfica — are interested in signing the player. This is reported by Goal.com reports .
It is reported that the 30-year-old player wants to return to his homeland to be closer to his children. A return to Sporting is considered his "top priority", while Benfica has already sent initial inquiries regarding a transfer.
Currently, Palhinha is playing for Tottenham on loan. He joined Bayern in 2024 for 51 million euros, but failed to secure a starting spot under Vincent Kompany. As a result, the player was loaned to the London club.
Tottenham has an option to buy the player permanently for 25 million euros, but the club's management wants to renegotiate this clause. Bayern sporting director Christoph Freund noted that the situation is uncertain and stated that a final decision will be made at the end of the season.
