Former Chelsea defender William Gallas has expressed a critical view of the hype surrounding Cole Palmer following his success in the 2023-2024 season. The French veteran believes the expectations placed on the young forward have risen too quickly, negatively impacting his game, according to Goal.com reports .
Gallas stated that it is wrong to label Palmer as one of the best players in the world after just one good season. According to him, the team is currently facing serious problems not only in the attack but also in defense, struggling to maintain consistency.
The former defender advised the Chelsea board to sign Manchester City player John Stones to strengthen the defensive line. Gallas believes Stones is an experienced player capable of handling the pressure of a big club and organizing the team's defense.
Gallas also emphasized that Stones' experience is more important for Chelsea than candidates like Marcos Senesi. He believes the London club should focus more on players who have experience winning trophies.
