Spanish club Osasuna has ended its partnership with head coach Alessio Lisci. The Pamplona club announced this via its official website. Although the team secured its place in La Liga, the management decided to make changes to the coaching staff following the end of the season.
The completed season was not easy for Osasuna. The team struggled to find consistency throughout the championship and ultimately finished in 17th place. This result allowed the club to remain in La Liga, but finishing near the relegation zone was not considered a satisfactory outcome for the Pamplona side.
40-year-old Alessio Lisci took charge of Osasuna last summer. Under his leadership, the team played 42 matches across all competitions. In these games, Osasuna secured 14 victories, recorded 9 draws, and suffered 19 defeats.
As the numbers show, although the team displayed character in some matches, they were unable to demonstrate the necessary consistency throughout the season. In particular, the high number of defeats seems to have forced the management to make new decisions ahead of the next season.
In its statement, Osasuna thanked Lisci for his hard work, dedication, and professional attitude during his time with the team. They also wished the specialist success in his future career.
This period was a great experience for Lisci. He worked under pressure in La Liga and fulfilled the task of keeping the team in the top flight. However, in football, sometimes achieving the goal is not enough: clubs look for stronger plans and new energy for the next stage.
Now Osasuna faces an important task. The Pamplona club must find a coach who can compete not just for survival, but for higher positions in the league table next season. If the right choice is not made, another season could turn into a nerve-wracking 'survival operation'.
In short, Osasuna has parted ways with Alessio Lisci. Although the team managed to stay in La Liga, the 17th-place finish did not satisfy the management. Now, a period of a new coach, a new plan, and new hopes begins in Pamplona.
