The semifinalists of the Ice Hockey World Championship held in Switzerland have been determined. The quarterfinal matches were rich in unexpected results and intense competition. One of the biggest events was the elimination of the defending champion, Team USA, from the tournament.
Canada convincingly defeated the USA 4-0 in the quarterfinals. This result sent the Canadians to the semifinals, while the defending champions were forced to end their run in the competition at this stage. With this victory, Canada once again proved that they are one of the main contenders for the title.
Finland also secured a spot in the semifinals. The Finns defeated the Czech Republic 4-1 to advance to the next round. Meanwhile, hosts Switzerland beat Sweden 3-1 in front of their home fans, continuing their successful run in the tournament.
In another quarterfinal, Norway defeated Latvia 2-0. Thus, in the semifinals taking place on May 30, Canada will face Finland, and Switzerland will play against Norway. The race for the championship is heating up — at this stage, every puck is worth its weight in gold.
