Steven Gerrard names top candidate for Liverpool manager role

Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard has shared his thoughts on the club's search for a new manager. He believes Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola possesses the perfect tactical style for the Anfield job. Following the dismissal of Arne Slot, the former captain emphasized that the Spanish tactician is a worthy candidate to rebuild the team. This is reported by Goal.com .
In an interview with TNT Sports, Gerrard noted that Iraola's work on the south coast has not gone unnoticed. “He has done a fantastic job at Bournemouth. I think his style of play fits Liverpool. However, it is natural that many elite managers around the world are interested in such a prestigious club, so he will not be the only candidate,” said Gerrard.
Although Arne Slot delivered Liverpool's 20th league title, the team's results in his second season saw a sharp decline. According to Gerrard, the team has lost its identity in recent matches, and the style of play appeared disjointed. Therefore, the board's decision to dismiss him, while unexpected, is considered timely.
The club's owners, FSG, are looking to return to the high-intensity “heavy metal” football of the Jurgen Klopp era. Reports suggest that Mohamed Salah had also been unhappy with the team's tactical changes. Currently, alongside Andoni Iraola, candidates such as Germany manager Julian Nagelsmann and PSG coach Luis Enrique are also being considered.
