Google unveils smart glasses powered by Gemini AI

Google unveils smart glasses powered by Gemini AI
A new revolution begins in the tech world — Google unveils smart glasses based on Gemini AI at the TED2025 conference. The new gadget runs on the Android XR platform and offers accurate, fast, and contextual assistance through artificial intelligence in users’ daily lives.

Translator, assistant, and memory — all in one pair of glasses

Google’s “smart” glasses are deeply integrated with Gemini AI and can recognize both visual and voice commands, responding instantly. For example, if a user is reading a book, the system remembers the book’s title. Later, if the user forgets where the book was placed, Gemini can remind them.

Real-time translation capability

The glasses can translate texts into various languages in real time. This function can become a vital assistant during foreign travel, at work, or in education. The AI strives to understand the meaning, tone, and context of the text accurately.

Visual memory and physical comfort

Gemini AI can memorize objects seen through the glasses — for instance, helping users locate lost keys or bags. This task takes the concept of visual memory to a new level. Additionally, the glasses are lightweight and thin, supporting prescription lenses as well.

Advanced technical configuration

The device includes a camera, microphones, speakers, and a HUD display (in the right lens). This allows the user to see important information in real time right before their eyes.

Although Google has introduced this device as a concept for now, it plans to make it available to consumers in 2026. The new glasses are expected to compete with Samsung’s Project HAEAN devices in the market.
