Tesla officially launches operations in India

Tesla has finally entered the Indian market — nearly nine years after Elon Musk first hinted at such a move in 2016, reported TechCrunch.

The company has set up a registered entity in the country under the name "Tesla India Motor & Energy" and has begun taking initial steps to establish operations. According to local sources, Tesla has been in talks with the Indian government about building a factory and setting up a domestic supply chain.

Tesla is expected to begin by importing vehicles into the country, with plans to shift toward local manufacturing over time.
