China bans tech firms from buying NVIDIA AI chips

China has told its top tech firms that they can no longer buy AI chips from U.S.-based NVIDIA, TechCrunch reported.

The decision comes amid rising technological tensions and export controls between China and the U.S. NVIDIA chips are essential for processing large-scale data and training advanced AI models.

Analysts say China is aiming to strengthen its domestic AI capabilities. NVIDIA has acknowledged that these restrictions could negatively impact its business in China.
