Telegram founder Pavel Durov revealed that French special services, through an intermediary, asked him to support the Moldovan government and help restrict certain Telegram channels on the eve of the presidential elections.
He said that when the first list provided by the French and Moldovan authorities was checked, some channels were deleted because they actually violated the platform's internal rules. However, in the second list presented later, no violations were found, the channels were disliked by the government only for their political views.
Durov emphasized that the mediator said that French intelligence could express a "positive opinion" in front of the judge who allegedly issued the arrest warrant. However, Durov considered such an agreement "absolutely unacceptable."
"We don't delete content for political reasons. "If there are attempts to exert pressure on Telegram, I will continue to disclose them," said Pavel Durov.
