Telegram announced on November 13 that it had blocked a record number of channels and groups. According to the official report, 519,645 channels and groups were deleted in one day - this is the highest figure since February of this year.
For comparison, on February 5th of this year, Telegram blocked over 490,000 channels.
According to the Messenger, a total of 34,913,282 channels and groups have been blocked since the beginning of 2025. Of these, more than 207,000 were linked to terrorist activities.
Moderation processes on Telegram have been conducted since 2015 based on user complaints and automated systems. Since last year, filtering tools with the help of artificial intelligence have been introduced into this process.
According to experts, this is the largest "cleansing" in the history of Telegram and is considered an important step in strengthening the messenger's global security policy.
