Telegram blocked over 100,000 channels in a single day

On April 27, the Telegram messenger deleted more than 105.5 thousand channels and groups that violated the platform's rules. This large-scale cleanup is reflected in the service's official statistics. Ixbt.com reports this.
Since the beginning of the year, the number of blocked resources has exceeded 13.7 million. In the past week alone, approximately 635,000 communities were restricted, indicating a significant tightening of moderation policies.
Usage metrics for the messenger in Russia continue to decline. In March, mobile traffic decreased by 18 percent, following a 10 percent decline recorded in February.
At the same time, representatives of local businesses have begun transitioning to corporate messengers.
Telegram founder Pavel Durov stated that he would prefer to cease operations in France rather than provide users' private correspondence to the government. According to him, the expansion of state powers in the field of data creates a risk of abuse.
