Reading mode has started working fully in the Google Chrome browser for Android, 3dnews.ru reports. Although the feature was introduced in 2023, until now it didn’t work on all pages and sometimes disappeared unexpectedly.
With the latest update, reading mode has been significantly improved. Now it’s much easier to turn on and works more reliably. The feature is activated via the “Enter Reading mode” option in the browser’s three-dot menu.
In the new mode, the page doesn’t switch to full screen, and the address bar stays in place. The interface is close to Google’s Material 3 Expressive design, with a large rounded control panel at the bottom.
Users can choose a font, increase text size up to 250%, and use light, dark, or sepia themes. The updated reading mode is available in Chrome version 143, though in some cases it must be enabled manually via chrome://flags.
