OpenAI announced the launch of advertising trials in ChatGPT's free tariff and ChatGPT Go mode. According to the company's official statement, trials will begin in the US in the coming weeks.

Most importantly: OpenAI says that advertising will not affect chatbot responses. That is, there will be no topic "whoever pays more is right," the advertisement will appear separately from the answer and in a clearly defined form. In the initial stage, the advertisement is usually planned to appear at the bottom of the answers, if there is a "sponsored" offer corresponding to the topic of the conversation.

Who doesn't have ads? OpenAI is clear on this issue too: Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise (and Edu) subscriptions will not have ads.

The company also made a "heavy promise" regarding privacy: it stated that users' correspondence with ChatGPT would not be sold to advertisers, and advertising personalization could be disabled at any time. Additionally, the user can see why the advertisement was shown or cancel it and write the reason.
