Apple has officially unveiled its new and relatively affordable smartphone, the iPhone 17e. The company presented this device as a solution suitable for the general public, combined with modern technologies and convenient for everyday use. Interestingly, this model emerged as the cheapest option within the iPhone 17 family, but "cheap" doesn't mean options have decreased this time. On the contrary, Apple tried to maintain a well-thought-out balance between price and options on this device.
The starting price for the new iPhone 17e has been set at $599 USD. This made it the most affordable model in the 2026 Apple smartphone lineup. At the same time, the base version is now offered with 256 GB of internal storage. This is twice the amount of input-level memory in the previous generation. Simply put, users now have much more space for photos, videos, apps, and games.
The device was equipped with a 6.1-inch display, retaining one of the most popular formats for the Apple audience. This size, on the one hand, allows you to conveniently view content on the screen, and on the other hand, ensures that the smartphone is not uncomfortable to hold. That is, the company did not experiment here, but relied on the classic size that proved itself in the market.
Technically, the iPhone 17e works with the new A19 chip. According to Apple and external publications, this processor will not only increase performance but also improve energy efficiency. As a result, the interface works more smoothly, applications open faster, and the smartphone behaves more confidently, from everyday tasks to relatively more complex processes. In short, this model appears not only as a "budget version" but also as a device that doesn't embarrass the user in terms of speed.
Apple has also made quite serious updates regarding the camera. The iPhone 17e features a 48-megapixel basic Fusion camera, which also provides 2x optical-quality zoom capability. It is said that the quality of portrait processing has improved, especially when photographing people and even pets, which helps to capture depth and details more accurately. This means that for those who enjoy daily photography, the "e" series phone looks much more attractive than before.
Another important update is MagSafe support. This is the first feature introduced for the "e" series, bringing magnetic accessories and a convenient wireless charging capability of up to 15W. Previously, some users would opt out of a cheaper model due to the lack of this feature. Now Apple has filled this gap, making the iPhone 17e more competitive.
As for the sales period, pre-orders for the iPhone 17e will open on March 4, 2026, and open sales will start on March 11. So, there isn't much time left for those waiting for the new model. Apple has clearly shown one thing through this smartphone: the company is now focusing not only on the expensive segment but also on a large audience that wants to get modern features at relatively affordable prices.
