Despite disagreements between the US Department of Defense and Anthropic, tech giants Microsoft, Google, and Amazon have announced that access to the Claude AI model will be maintained. Previously, the Pentagon declared Anthropic a supply chain risk for refusing to grant unlimited access to military technologies. Despite this situation, major cloud platforms confirmed that the restrictions only apply to defense contracts. After its own legal review, Microsoft stated that the Claude model will remain available for commercial and civil projects in Microsoft 365, GitHub, and AI Foundry services. Google and Amazon also announced they would apply a similar approach for their customers.
Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei said the Pentagon's decision only concerns cooperation within military contracts and the company intends to defend its rights in court. Experts believe this situation could create a new legal precedent for AI startups in the US. Currently, the Claude model continues to gain popularity among businesses and ordinary users, and the restrictions in the defense sector have not had a significant impact on its overall market activity.
