Intel increased revenue to $13.6 billion by selling defective processors

Intel improved its financial performance in the first quarter of this year in an unexpected way. The company earned revenue not only from rising demand, but also by selling defective processors that should have been sent to waste. This was reported by Ixbt.com reported.
According to analyst Ben Bayarin, crystals taken from the edges of silicon wafers and containing defects did not meet the demand for flagship models. The company disabled some cores in such chips and successfully sold them as mid-range processors.
Amid strong demand for chips for servers and artificial intelligence infrastructure, Intel was able to monetize crystals that previously had no commercial value. As a result, the company's quarterly revenue reached $13.6 billion, while the margin was higher than expected at 41 percent.
