Russia introduces domestic SIM cards with all processes protected
The Russian telecom operator "VimpelKom," operating under the "Beeline" brand, has tested secure SIM cards developed under the "USIM-RF" scheme in collaboration with "Era Technologies." These new cards are designed to provide high-level data protection and reduce reliance on foreign components, with all production stages, including the creation and storage of secret keys, taking place within Russia. The "USIM-RF" cards feature an open security architecture that can be expanded within the industry and do not require changes to existing network infrastructure. The initiative is seen as crucial in the face of increasing cyber threats and sanctions, according to company officials.
VimpelKom, the operator operating under the Beeline brand, has tested secure SIM cards manufactured according to the special "USIM-RF" protected scheme. The new development was created in cooperation with the Era Texnologiy company and ensures a high level of data protection and independence from foreign components. Ixbt.com reports on this.
All stages of production, including the generation and storage of secret keys, are carried out within the territory of Russia. "USIM-RF" SIM cards feature an open security architecture that can be scaled within the industry.
Their implementation does not require changes to the existing network infrastructure.
Yuriy Stashevskiy, head of the telecom network protection department at Beeline, emphasized the importance of introducing a domestic product in conditions of increasing cyber risks and sanctions pressure. Aleksey Kaukiaynen, CEO of Era Texnologiy, noted that the project was developed as a scalable model for the market.
