NVIDIA processors smuggled into China

A company linked to Thailand's national AI initiative is suspected of illegally importing Super Micro Computer servers and advanced NVIDIA graphics processors into China. According to Bloomberg, Alibaba Group Holding also utilized technologies supplied through this scheme. This was reported by Ixbt.com reports .
According to US prosecutors, a co-founder of Super Micro Computer instructed an unidentified firm in Southeast Asia to purchase servers equipped with NVIDIA chips. Between 2024 and 2025, this firm purchased $2.5 billion worth of servers.
During the investigation, the firm referred to by the prosecution as "Company-1" was identified as the Bangkok-based OBON Corp. This case is being evaluated as an attempt to circumvent US technological export restrictions against China.
Relevant authorities are currently investigating this illegal supply chain. NVIDIA stated that it is taking measures to ensure compliance with export control regulations for its products.
