Elon Musk wanted to integrate OpenAI into Tesla

During hearings at a federal court in Oakland, it was revealed that Elon Musk once wanted to invite Sam Altman to the Tesla board of directors. Shivon Zilis, a former OpenAI board member and close associate of Musk, confirmed that such discussions took place in late 2017. This is reported by Ixbt.com .
At that time, Musk and the OpenAI founders were discussing the organization's future and the financing of computing power. Musk proposed the idea of turning OpenAI into a subsidiary of his company, Tesla, and establishing an artificial intelligence laboratory there.
OpenAI lawyers view this move as an attempt by Musk to take control of artificial intelligence technologies and integrate them into the Tesla system. They claim that Musk tried to persuade Altman to abandon his mission and join Tesla.
For his part, Elon Musk emphasized during the trial that he originally founded OpenAI as a non-profit organization with the goal of serving humanity. According to him, Sam Altman promised that the company would remain non-profit, but later went back on that promise.
