According to Reuters, major technology companies actively developing AI infrastructure are offering to help South Korea's SK Hynix finance new production lines and purchase expensive ASML EUV lithography machines. This equipment is critical for manufacturing modern DRAM memory. This is reported by Ixbt.com reports .
However, SK Hynix is in no hurry to accept these offers. The company's management is concerned that such agreements could lead to excessive dependence on certain clients. Furthermore, the obligation to supply memory at lower prices in exchange for long-term orders could be contrary to the company's interests.
Currently, SK Hynix reports that its production capacity is almost fully utilized. According to sources, the company has virtually no free capacity left and is unable to allocate dedicated lines for specific customers.
Against the backdrop of a sharp rise in demand, SK Hynix is building a new P&T7 Mega-Fab production complex. This facility, equivalent to approximately 32 football fields, is designed to produce HBM memory required for AI accelerators and data centers. The full commissioning of the complex is scheduled for 2028.
