The AI race: Conflict between boards of directors and management

A new study by Boston Consulting Group (BCG) reveals a significant gap in perspectives between CEOs and boards of directors regarding the implementation of artificial intelligence (AI) in corporations. 61% of surveyed CEOs noted that boards are pushing for AI solutions too hastily due to a fear of missing out on technological trends. This is reported by Ixbt.com reports .

The study shows that while 75% of board members believe they fully understand AI capabilities, 35% of CEOs are skeptical about this. Many executives noted that board members overestimate AI's ability to replace human labor and fail to realistically assess the technology's impact on business strategy.

Interestingly, the less confident board members are in their own AI knowledge, the more likely they are to conclude that the company is not adopting technologies fast enough. Experts recommend that to solve this problem, CEOs should familiarize boards with the real capabilities of AI tools and involve them in systematic training processes.

Today, nearly 35% of CEO performance evaluations are tied to the return on investment (ROI) from AI projects. Nevertheless, 80% of respondents agreed that future board members must have a deep understanding of the transformative power of artificial intelligence in the industry.
