Russian cosmonauts to perform spacewalk on May 27

Russian cosmonauts Sergey Kud-Sverchkov and Sergey Mikayev will perform a spacewalk on May 27 to conduct scientific work outside the International Space Station (ISS). According to Roskosmos, a series of important technical and scientific tasks will be carried out on the station's exterior during this mission. This is reported by Ixbt.com reports .
One of the main tasks is to install the Solntse-Teragerts radio telescope on the Zvezda module. This device, weighing nearly 50 kilograms, will serve to study solar flares and improve the accuracy of their prediction. The cosmonauts will use Orlan-MKS spacesuits during the work, while Andrey Fedyayev will operate the ERA robotic arm from inside the station.
Additionally, the cosmonauts will retrieve semiconductor material samples from the Nauka module as part of the Ekran-M experiment. The gallium arsenide layer, which is important for future electronics, was grown in open space conditions. Furthermore, the Biorisk experiment container, which has been in space for five years, will be returned to the station.
Scientists will deeply study how the bacteria, seeds, and crustacean cysts in this container withstood the effects of vacuum and radiation. These studies are of great importance for space biology and future technologies.
