YouTube Shorts viewers spend 2 billion hours per month on TV

Although short-form videos were initially designed for smartphones, YouTube data shows they are becoming increasingly popular on large screens. Currently, users watch over 2 billion hours of YouTube Shorts on TVs every month. YouTube states that the living room is the platform's fastest-growing screen. YouTube has optimized the Shorts experience for TVs. Specifically, to make viewing vertical videos on a large screen more comfortable, the comments section is now displayed next to the video. The Google TV platform also aims to further increase watch time by adding a "Short videos for you" row to its feed.
Additionally, the trend of watching podcasts on TVs is growing. In 2025, users watched over 700 million hours of podcasts per month via living room devices, a significant increase from the 400 million hours recorded in 2024. Companies like Netflix are also investing heavily in this area, reaching exclusive agreements with various studios.
