Figma adds AI agent to its design platform

In recent months, Figma has partnered with OpenAI and Anthropic, enabling users to leverage coding environments like Claude Code and Codex alongside its design software. Now, the company has introduced a new AI agent that operates within its collaborative canvas. This is reported by Techcrunch.com reports .

According to Figma, users can perform tasks such as creating new designs, editing existing ones, or automatically generating design variants using simple text prompts. It is also possible to run multiple agents simultaneously to handle different tasks.

The company emphasizes that this AI assistant understands design context and elements well, as it is powered by AI models specifically tailored for the design industry. According to Figma's Chief Design Officer Loredana Crisan, teams can now focus more on visualizing ideas and refining concepts rather than spending time on tedious, repetitive tasks.

The new agent will initially launch on the Figma Design platform and will be integrated into the company's other products in the future. Figma aims to bring design and code closer together in its applications over time. Despite pressure from competitors like Canva and Adobe, the company continues to grow financially.

Despite concerns that AI might replace designers, Figma reported $333.4 million in revenue for the first quarter of 2026, a 46% increase compared to the same period last year. Last year, the company acquired Weavy and added new image editing features to its products.
