A joint communiqué on the establishment of diplomatic relations between Uzbekistan and Côte d'Ivoire was signed in New York on April 29, Dunyo agency reports.
It is noted that the document was signed on behalf of the governments of the two countries by the Permanent Representative of Uzbekistan to the UN Ulugbek Lapasov and the Permanent Representative of Côte d'Ivoire to the UN Tiemoko Moriko.
The parties expressed their readiness to strengthen joint cooperation within the framework of international organizations, including the UN and its specialized agencies. An agreement was reached to intensify bilateral relations in order to find mutually beneficial areas of cooperation in the political, trade-economic and cultural-humanitarian spheres.
Thus, Côte d'Ivoire, located in West Africa, became the 160th country to establish diplomatic relations with Uzbekistan.
"The signing of this document was an important step in the activation of Uzbekistan's cooperation with the countries of the African continent," the report says.
It should be recalled that the 159th country to establish diplomatic relations with Uzbekistan is Nauru, an island country in the Pacific Ocean, the smallest independent republic on Earth.
