On May 7, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting focused on improving healthcare quality, efficient drug usage, and reforming medical education, nova24.uz reported.
During the meeting, the president introduced a new system for clinic operations in Uzbekistan. Under the changes, a two-way agreement will now be signed between the medical team and assigned residents, defining their rights and responsibilities. Citizens will be able to choose their family doctor, including private specialists.
A state-guaranteed package of medical assistance was also approved. According to the plan, all medical services and medicines will be fully funded by the national budget.
The number of gynecologists in clinics will double, and one new pediatrician will be assigned for every 3,000 children.
Part-time work rates such as 0.5 or 0.25 will be abolished at the primary care level. All doctors and nurses will work full time.
Districts will optimize the operation of local and family doctors, as well as clinics. Seven major clinics serving more than 12,000 people will be restructured into smaller units. The central clinic in each district will become a consultation and diagnostic department with specialized doctors. Read 'Zamin' on Telegram!
