2026 ADB Annual Meeting to be held in Samarkand
The 59th Annual Meeting of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) will take place in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, from May 3 to 6, 2026, reports Kursiv.media. This marks the second time Uzbekistan hosts this prestigious financial event, the first being in Tashkent in 2010.

ADB President Masato Kanda highlighted that holding the meeting in Samarkand will serve as an inspiring venue for strengthening regional cooperation and sustainable development. He noted that Samarkand, with its rich history and cultural heritage, is an ideal location to reinforce collaboration in the Asia-Pacific region.

Uzbekistan's Deputy Prime Minister Jamshid Khodjaev stated that the country has been actively implementing economic and social reforms in recent years. He reported that over the past four years, Uzbekistan has reduced its poverty rate from 23% to 11%. The goal is to lower it to 9% in 2025 and halve it by 2030.

ADB is one of Uzbekistan's largest development partners, having provided over $5.4 billion in support over the past five years. The bank supports projects in green energy, private sector development, and human capital investment.
