In recent months, the rise in meat prices in the markets has become the main focus of public attention. The Ministry of Agriculture of Uzbekistan has issued an official statement on this issue. The document provides a detailed description of the factors affecting the cost of meat, the situation in the domestic and foreign markets, and the current state of prices.
What are the prices on the shelves?
According to the Ministry, today:
- On discounted market shelves, beef and mutton are sold for 65–75 thousand soums,
- on regular retail shelves - for 90–95 thousand soums,
- in shopping centers - for 95–100 thousand soums.
A detailed analysis of this sector was also provided in Tashkent:
- Meat priced at 65–75 thousand soums accounts for 15–18% of buyers,
- Meat priced at 90–95 thousand soums — 82–85%,
- Lean (boneless) meat priced at 110–130 thousand soums — only 1–2%.
Global trends: not only in Uzbekistan
The ministry noted that the increase in meat prices is not only a local phenomenon, but a global process observed throughout the world.
- In Russia, the price of chicken meat increased by 9.7%,
- in Kazakhstan by 4.7%.
At the same time, it was noted that prices in Uzbekistan are stable relative to global market fluctuations.
Supply and maturity level
The following were cited as the main factors affecting meat prices in the first quarter of 2025:
- increasing prices for feed raw materials,
- increasing electricity and fuel costs,
- the level of sufficient feed supply for livestock is only 35–40%.
The increase in feed prices is not theoretical, but reflected in concrete numbers:

Production and imports: what do the numbers show?
In 2024:
- 2.9 million tons of meat were produced in live weight,
- 1.7 million tons in slaughter weight.
- Imports — 93 thousand tons (5.4% of the total volume).
70% of imported meat was delivered to processing plants, and the rest was delivered to the population through discounted stalls at farmers' markets.
The average import price is $ 4. The main suppliers are Belarus and Kazakhstan.
International comparison: how much is meat where?

According to the Ministry, Uzbekistan is one of the countries where meat is sold the cheapest, and in Central Asia it is in second place after Kyrgyzstan.
