A horrifying event occurred in the city of Tashkent that shocks the soul.
The reason — cruel treatment in a private kindergarten that led to the death of a minor child.
At the private preschool institution “Jajji nihollar”, a 2-year-old child named Zubayr Anvarjonov was subjected to brutal torture by his caregiver and passed away. According to court records, Laylo Alimova, born in 1997, worked at the kindergarten as a caregiver. Vazira Giyazova, born in 1957, held the position of methodologist. Criminal case materials show that between December 9 and 11, 2024, the child was subjected not only to negligence but also violent disciplinary actions. Giyazova hit the child on the head for refusing to eat, dragged him by his clothes, and then forcefully threw him onto the bed. Laylo Alimova treated the child who didn't sleep during nap time even more brutally. She lifted and threw him to the floor several times. Stuffed a bedsheet into his mouth, strangled him by the neck, and kicked him in the back. She said she committed these actions “in a moment of anger”. At the trial, she fully admitted guilt and expressed deep regret. But regret changed nothing. The child's life came to an end. According to Alimova’s testimony, on December 11, Zubayr was crying near the door of the room, refusing to sleep. She kicked him three times. His body hit the wall. She then lifted and threw him onto the bed. At that moment, Giyazova entered the room, hit Zubayr again, and said: “If you don't sleep, I will kill you,” then left.
Soon after, the caregiver again resorted to violence. She slapped his face repeatedly and continued beating. Later, she threw him again and scared him with terrifying words. She even threatened to throw him out the window. This wasn’t just violence — it was serious psychological and physical pressure. At about 14:21, she placed a chair near Zubayr, who kept crying, and to silence him, she stuffed his own bedsheet into his mouth. Covered his mouth with her hand several times, strangled him, and hit his face. These actions caused damage to the child’s vital functions. Eventually, the child became motionless.
Frightened, the caregiver took him to the restroom, washed his face, and laid him down again. But the child still lay motionless. She called other staff members. An ambulance was called.Doctors arrived and took the child to the hospital. But it was too late. On December 14, 2024, Zubayr Anvarjonov died at the hospital despite medical efforts. In court, Laylo Alimova was found guilty under Article 104, Part 3, clause “d” of the Criminal Code (intentional infliction of serious bodily harm resulting in death). Applying Article 57 of the Criminal Code, she was sentenced to 6.5 years of imprisonment. Vazira Giyazova was found guilty under Article 110, Part 2, clauses “a” and “v” (torture) and was sentenced to 3 years of restricted freedom. This incident shocked not only the child’s family but the entire society. Caregivers who abused parental trust have now been punished. But one question remains: how did such cruelty go unnoticed?
How effective is oversight in kindergartens? One child’s life was sacrificed. It is society’s duty to protect the rest. To prevent such tragedies, internal control in all private and public institutions must be strengthened. New technologies, video surveillance, pedagogical testing, and licenses for working with children — all must be reviewed. Every parent wants to be sure their child is in safe hands. But how justified is that trust — this question must be answered by society. This tragedy is a serious warning against irresponsibility and cruelty in educational institutions. Every child has the right to be raised with love, care, and attention. The short life of Zubayr Anvarjonov will remain a heavy lesson for everyone. Read 'Zamin' on Telegram!
