
Uzbekistan's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bakhtiyor Saidov, met yesterday in the city of Kabul with the acting Prime Minister of Afghanistan, Mullah Mohammad Hassan Akhund.
“We are pleased to meet with His Excellency, the acting Prime Minister of Afghanistan, Mullah Mohammad Hassan Akhund,” wrote the head of Uzbekistan’s MFA on his Telegram channel. “We are striving to further deepen bilateral relations with brotherly and neighboring Afghanistan.”
During the meeting, issues of trade, humanitarian cooperation, and regional connectivity were discussed, including a framework agreement on the “Uzbekistan – Afghanistan – Pakistan” railway.
It was stated that the government of Uzbekistan is ready to strengthen cooperation in the fields of infrastructure, logistics, energy, and education.
“We believe that Afghanistan should serve as a bridge between Central and South Asia,” said Bakhtiyor Saidov.
