The Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, on July 29 reviewed proposals for improving the military education system.
According to the proposal, the Academy of the Armed Forces will be reformed, and the University of Military Security and Defense of the Republic of Uzbekistan will be established on its basis. All military educational institutions of the Ministry of Defense—5 institutes, the Higher School for Sergeant Training, and the Aviation and Unmanned Aerial Vehicles Training Center—will be given institute status and included in this university.
It is noted that this will create a centralized vertical system, help increase the combat capability of the troops, expand dual education, and facilitate the practical application of scientific research.
At the Higher School for Sergeant Training, a new system will be introduced for training sergeants—considered the backbone of the army—developing their leadership qualities, and improving their skills in modern weaponry and new tactical methods.
Another novelty is the introduction of the “2+2” format for narrow specializations. For example, specialists in psychology, communications, logistics, warehousing, and other 18 related fields will be selected from among second-year students of other higher educational institutions.
To support talented youth, starting from the new academic year, the “Supreme Commander-in-Chief” state scholarship will be introduced on a competitive basis for final-year cadets. The holder of this scholarship, after completing a bachelor's degree, will be admitted to the master's program of higher military educational institutions without exams for 5 years.
Now, graduates of 36 educational programs of higher military educational institutions will receive two diplomas at once—one in a civilian specialty and another in a military specialty. Accordingly, requirements for the selection and recruitment of military teachers will also increase. In particular, a system for training military teachers in leading foreign countries will be introduced.
At the presentation, these proposals were approved and instructions were given for their effective implementation.
