As of July 1, 2025, the number of population employed in the economy amounts to 14.6 million persons.
The number of unemployed, according to the Ministry of Poverty Reduction and Employment, is 800 thousand persons.
The population not covered by the labor market, including children, students, pensioners and others, is 22.5 million, of which the number of population below working age amounted to 12 million persons.
According to the Central Bank, the continuous growth of the population in the country and, structurally, that the youth constitute a significant part of the total population, along with supporting economic growth, may create pressure for the labor market in the future.
“Xususan, the current population below working age, gradually joining the labor market, will significantly increase the demand for jobs and will affect employment, the level of wages and economic productivity. In addition, in recent periods a significant increase in the growth rate of the population of working age (15–64 years) is being observed,” – it is stated in the commentary of the Central Bank.
In particular, the growth rate increased from 0.8 percent in 2022 to 1.4 percent in the 2nd quarter of 2025.
This is mainly expressed by the structural change of the population, the increase in the share of youth in it and their rapid entry into the labor market. In the future, the preservation of this tendency and the effective absorption of the supply of labor in the labor market, along with supporting economic growth, may serve to increase inflationary pressure from the demand side.
