As of July 1, 2025, the permanent population of Uzbekistan reached 37.9 million people.
According to data released by the National Statistics Committee, 12.2 million people (32.2%) of the population are under working age. At the same time, 21.2 million people (56%) are of working age. The remaining 4.5 million citizens (11.8%) are older than working age.
Experts emphasize that the high proportion of the working-age population in the country is an important "demographic bonus" for Uzbekistan. This situation opens up great opportunities for accelerating economic growth processes and implementing new reforms.
In this sense, the effective use of the demographic structure is considered a decisive factor in the strategic development of the country. Therefore, the correct and effective use of youth and the labor force can serve as the main driver for the future prospects of the Uzbek economy.
